Pro-Am leaders Laura van den Hengel and Paul Meijer, in the Burgers Motorsport HWM, posted the best time in today’s free practice day at the Paul Ricard. The Dutch duo stopped the clock in 2.06.134 in session 2 in a very warm Friday in the French track.
They beat championship leaders Luca Franca and Ian Rodriguez, in the Faems Team Porsche by 0s381 and the other 911 Cup by Ebimotors of Sebastian Fortuna and Cosimo Papi (+0s823), who were the fastest pair in Am.
Fourth-fatest was the debuting Greystone GT McLaren Artura of Ryan James and Ollie Webb (+1s294) ahead of the Porsches of Nico Saelents-Stienes Longin (Q1, +0s353) and Davide Scannicchio-Fabio Babini (Tsunami, +1s832).
The day was marked by the crash in session 1 of Bruno Trentin, who was debuting in the SP Racing Porsche co-driven by Stefano Zerbi. For reasons still to be cleared, the Italian lost control of the car while braking ahead of the chicane in the Mistral straight, hitting the Armco and ending in the service road.
Trentin was conscious when checked at the medical center and was air-lifted to Toulon for further checks. Further news will be given tomorrow.
Fran Viel Bugliotti (GDL Racing) was fastest in the Bronze Test (2.08.487).
