It was a very warm Friday at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya this Friday, but teams and drivers made perfect use of the two sessions, which had a clear dominator. Pro-Am leaders Laura van den Hengel and Paul Meijer topped both sessions (with the afternoon one being faster for most cars) and posted the best time of the day, 1.44.408, at the wheel of the Burgers Motorsport HWM Porsche. In the morning, they topped the rankings with a time of 1.44.450.
Second fastest was the ZRS Motorsport car of Pietro Armanni and Ludovico Longoni (+0s864). The championship challengers finished the day just ahead of the points leaders, Luca Franca and Ian Rodriguez (FAEMS Team, +0s930). They had an off-track in the morning session that caused a red flag.
Fourth-fastest, the Q1 Trackracing pair Nico Saelens-Stienes Longin (+1s237) also caused a red flag, ten minutes from the end of session 2, which was again red-flagged by an off-track of the RO1 Racing Porsche #21. In the Am class, Cosimo Papi (Ebimotors) was fastest.
It was an uphill start of the weekend for the reigning Am (and class standings
leaders) Leandro Martins and Dieter Svepes, as the #911 LMR Motorsport Porsche crashed heavily at last corner during the Thursday private tests. The car was not repairable and a spare car arrived from Portugal at the early hours of Friday. The substitute car, though, had to be re-prepared and missed the two free practice sessions.
